Elaine stepped away from the stream, and towards the woods in front of them. The sun was setting behind them, the light dancing on the horizon, warning her to find a place to stay quickly... Before she got attacked by something she wasn't fond of.
The shadows coming from the forest seemed to swallow her whole, and it was clear to her Nicker and Virva were afraid. She drew them back in, before shifting Drasei on her shoulders and bending down to scratch Lissa behind the ears. "Y-you go first." She called back to Fang.
In the twilight, the forest didn't seem as ominous...But within, she could hear scuttling, hoots, and various hissing... She didn't want to guess at the moment which was more poisonous...

Fang walked towards the darkened forest happily. Now THIS was his kind of place! Finally, a rest from that godforsaken sun! And it looked like the sun would go down. Elaine would need sleep eventually, giving him an excellent reason to stay even longer. He managed not to laugh when the girl stuttered for him to go in first. Now there was the cowardly girl he had met! Much better. He walked into the forest confidently, letting the sound of possibly deadly creatures shuffling around wash over him. It was music to his ears! It wasn't the perfect surroundings, but it was certainly better than that terrible field of flowers. Ug.
The thick over head branches blocked the light of the setting sun almost completely, making for a dark and eerie surrounding that Fang was positively loving.

Oh my! An Ekans had it's mind set on eating a Hoothoot! What a terrible thing for the two travelers to walk in on! A hiss, and Ekans pounced again... but the lucky one legged little bird hopped away just in time! It gave a quick peck before hopping away again, quickly as it could. "Ekanssssss!" It cried in pain, launching it's fanged body at Hoothoot. "Hoooo!" Hoothoot was now pinned under the bright purple snake. It kicked and sturggled, but it would soon be down for the count! Who would stop this? Hopefully for the Hoothoot, a nice trainer would come along and scoop it up. That's the way a perfect world would work... but this wasn't a perfect world, now was it?

Elaine screamed as she walked in upon it, and grabbed a pokeball from her bag. There was no way she was going to battle it... She had no care for Ekans, but that poor Hoothoot! She threw it in a graceful arch until it tapped the bird, and even if it burst out, it would get it away from the Ekans for a few minutes... Long enough for Fang to attack.
"Lissa, be prepared for a battle...If this Hoothoot pops out, I'm going to get you to use one move...It seems so weak already." She said softly, watching the pokeball. And then she remembered....The Ekans probably would not be happy with her trying to catch his lunch. "F-fang?! Get that Ekans before it gets me!"

Fang blinked as he walked upon the scene of a large snake attempting to eat a large owl. How ironic. But that was nature at work. Best to leave it be and keep moving... Or, maybe not. It didn't look like the girl would have anything to do with simply ignoring the gruesome sight. He sighed as she screamed for him to attack the Ekans. Oh well. He wouldn't mind having the snake on his team.
"Ignis, I think you better go take care of it. Ember," he said, in an almost offhand manner.
Ignis charged forward and shot the embers out at almost point blank range as the Hoothoot wiggled in its Pokeball. He didn't really care if the Hoothoot popped out and pecked him, he was certain he could easily take them both.

Hoothoot didn't strugle against the Pokéball... why would he? He was safe from fangs in here. The threat was all gone, as long as he stayed put. Besides, it was sorta cozy in here anyway. He didn't mind... maybe he could nap. Yes, that would be good, nap.
"Ekansssss!" It cried, catching an ember in the face. That wasn't any good at all! First a flying, and then a fire attack? Both of his weaknesses had been exploited in a madder of a few minutes! He hissed loudly, throwing himself on the opposing Charmeleon.

Elaine ran forward and grabbed the pokeball, placing it on her belt before backing up. She was going to name the little girl Moontear... For no apparent reason, than the fact the name just appeared in her head...Like Lissa's.
Lissa came up beside her and nuzzled her side, eyes sparkling. She was happy that her owner had saved that Hoothoot.... And, better yet, that gave the whole team a new friend. It seemed the Hoothoot would be happy Elaine came along... Just like Lissa was happy Elaine was her owner, and not Fang.
"Get at it, Fang." She said cheerfully, leaning against a tree...Then rethinking, standing up, and beginning to brush off her back, not wanting to imagine what sort of bug could have crawled on her...

Ignis cried out angrily as the Ekans literally tossed itself on him. How obnoxious! Didn't the foolish Ekans know that it didn't stand a chance? But before Ignis could aim its head down and shoot another ember at the Ekans, Fang grabbed a Pokeball. He threw it at the Ekans, his aim superb, as it hit the snake and not Ignis. The Pokemon had already been in a fight with the Hoothoot, so Fang figured that it was already fairly weakened just from that. Then a point-blank ember? Yes, he rather thought that would weaken it enough to be caught. He was certainly having good luck with Pokemon thus far. Some fairly strong and interesting Pokemon had jumped him, only to be beaten down and caught. He didn't think this one would be any different.

Ekans was down for the count. It wouldn't give up as easily as the Hoothoot had. One... Two... Three shakes! And then, silence. This snake would have to learn to get along with Hoothoot... they were gonna be traveling buddies now. Oh, how that would strike his nerves. Being forced with what he once called dinner? Gah! Humans mess everything up! What an annoyance! ((out of muse))

Suddenly, Elaine heard a crack in the distance. She gave a small cry, and ran to the nearest tall thing... Fang. She buried her face in his arm and was stuttering,"D-don't let it g-get me!" A slight tremor was going through her, until Lissa came up and rubbed against her legs... Trying to make her feel better.
After a minute, Elaine took a deep breath and backed away from Fang to hug Lissa. Goosebumps were visible on her arm. "G-good catch." She complimented Fang weakly, glancing around in a paranoid kind of way. It was clear she was nervous. She wanted to travel all night, and sleep in the city, but she knew her body couldn't handle it...So, she'd just ask Fang to keep watch for her.
She hoped he'd feel a small amount of affection for her, enough that he'd protect her... She didn't want to know what pokemon would hunt her, or her pokemon... She truly was afraid of this forest. Right then, she was happy to have him as her companion.

Fang grinned his savage grin as the Ekans was caught almost effortlessly. He held out his hand and the Pokeball floated back to it. He was busy relishing in his victory, until, out of nowhere, Elaine randomly jumped him and clutched to his arm like something was trying to eat her. "What the-" he began, staring down at the girl clinging to him like he was the last piece of safety on earth.
Thankfully, she disengaged to go snuggle with her Eevee. He sighed. Hopefully, she wouldn't insist on doing that all night. He'd better eat like a king at the next town, for all the trouble this girl was giving him.
Until then, he'd have to put up with it. As tempting as abandoning her in the middle of the forest was, it would make all the annoyances he'd dealt with thus far a needless sacrifice. So he decided to find a nice, safe looking place for her to set up camp.
He found the right sort of place before long, and let his Ekans out for a breath of fresh air. "Go ahead and set up whatever camp you have," he instructed her. "You're getting tired, so we can rest here."

Elaine took a place right in the middle of the clearing and set up, crawling inside a rather large sleeping bag with her pokemon put away. Well, all of them except Drasei... He settled at the side of the sleeping bag, his head resting on Elaine's arm.
"Goodnight, Fang."She called sleepily from her bag, before silence. Occasionally, there would be a rustle and the mound in the bag would turn over... At one time, however, she began to sleep talk almost inaudibly.
"No...No...Get away from me, you monster... I said...Stay away..." She muttered, tossing once or twice. Then she was silent again... One could only wonder what terrible dream she was having, if a terrible dream she was having at all.

Fang sighed as he watched the girl toss and turn in her sleep. He himself was leaning up against a tree. He could never sleep at night. Normally he slept during the day, but traveling with this girl prevented that. Well, he could at least try.
He laid down in several different postitions. Not only could he not sleep, he was having a hard time getting comfortable. With a sigh, he stood up at took off his jacket off, then lifted his shirt over his head. It was immediatly apparent why he couldn't get comfortable.
Other than the metal bracers around his wrists and ankles, he had a huge band of what seemed to be steel twisting around his shoulders and the back of his neck, coming down in the middle of his upper chest to form a large skull pendant. Three similar chunks of steel latched to his back, twising halfway around him.
It'd been a pain to get clothing that would efficiently cover it up, but layers had proven to be the best option. Fang laid back down with a sigh, finally able to get comfortable, then drifting off in a restless, half awake slumber.

When morning light broke through the forest, and caused less lurking, threatening shadows... Elaine felt wakefulness coming across her. Groggily, she unzipped her bag and sat up, waking Drasei.
Drasei crawled in her lap and attempted to go back asleep, but she picked him up and placed him around her neck. With the prospect of a bed, a good breakfast, and dinner that night, she stood up and began to roll up her sleeping bag silently. She decided she'd let Fang sleep longer... He didn't look like he got much.
Silently, she released Virva and Moontear. Moontear flew to her shoulder, before twisting her head around and resting it on her back to sleep... Virva immediately took her place by Elaine's side, and finally, Elaine was ready. "Fang...Fang, wake up..." She called, in her usual quiet voice.
She noticed he was not wearing a shirt, but it only increased her scolding of herself to not dislike him. She couldn't look at that and tell herself she could continue disliking him... Sighing, she turned away and glanced toward the sky. She could hear thunder off in the distance... That must mean a storm was approaching. Best to get out of the trees...
